Serves:3, Preparation Time: 30 min


1Cup rice
4 tbs Oil
1tbs Channa dal
1tbs urad dal
1 tbs mustard seeds
A pinch of asafoetida
1/4 tbs turmeric
2 dried red chillies
2 green chillies
10 - 12 curry leaves
15 Peanuts/15 cashew nut peaces
1 lemon
2 cups water for rice cooking.


  • Cook rice with 2 cups of water. keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add red chillies broken into 2 peaces.
  • Add Channa Dal, urad dal, peanuts and mustard's, green chillies.
  • Fry until dals change colour into light brown.
  • Now add asafoetida.
  • Let mustard seed crackle, then add curry leaves.
  • Mix turmeric powder in this. Stir fry for half a minute.
  • Now add rice, salt, lemon juice mix well.
